• Cooling Capacity: 165-1000 Tons (581-3516 kW)
• Magnetic Bearing Driveline System: In 1998, YORK® Navy Systems pioneered reliable magnetic bearing technology for submarine cooling. The same durable and efficient technology is used on the YORK® YZ.
• Low-Pressure Chiller: For most of the last century, YORK® centrifugal chillers have utilized low-pressure refrigerants to provide highly efficient chillers. The YORK® YZ Centrifugal Chiller is engineered to maximize the efficiency of a new, low GWP, low-pressure refrigerant.
• Optimized Compressor: The optimal, single-stage design allows the YORK® chiller to deliver the best possible real-world energy efficiency. The YORK® YZ compressor also leads the industry with the widest operating range under off-design conditions, where systems typically operate.
• Variable-Speed Drive: Four decades ago, YORK® introduced the first Variable-Speed Drive (VSD) chiller. And we have installed more VSD chillers than all other manufacturers combined. A VSD is standard on the YORK® YZ Centrifugal Chiller.
• High-Speed Induction Motor: YORK® was the first to couple hermetically sealed, encapsulated induction motors with variable speed drives in 2004 to directly drive the compressor in air-cooled screw chillers. The YORK® YZ Centrifugal Chiller builds on this reliable, proven technology to power our newest centrifugal compressor.
• Falling Film Evaporator: The YORK® YZ Centrifugal Chiller’s patented falling film design has achieved up to a 60% reduction in refrigerant charge and a 20% reduction in evaporator shell size compared to other chillers. YORK®’s patented Falling Film Evaporator design also helps eliminate the need for a refrigerant pump.
